Claude Desktop
One-click memory extension for Claude Desktop. Save, search, and update your knowledge base in any conversation.
One click. After that, Claude Desktop can save insights to your knowledge base, search past memories, and update existing ones, right in the conversation.
Before You Start
- Nowledge Mem running locally (installation)
- Claude Desktop installed
- Python 3.13 on your system

Download the extension
Install
Double-click the downloaded claude-dxt.mcpb file from your browser's download area, click Install in the dialog, then restart Claude Desktop.

Use it
Ask Claude to save insights, search your memories, or update anything in your knowledge base.


Access Mem Anywhere
The extension connects to your local Mem by default. To use it with a remote Mem (for example, from a different machine), configure Access Anywhere in the extension settings:
- In Nowledge Mem Desktop, open Settings → Access Mem Anywhere and start a tunnel (guide).
- Copy the URL and API Key.
- In Claude Desktop, open the Nowledge Mem extension settings and fill in:
- Remote URL: your Access Anywhere URL (e.g.
https://mem.example.com) - API Key: your Mem API key (
nmem_...)
- Remote URL: your Access Anywhere URL (e.g.
- Restart Claude Desktop.
Leave both fields empty to use local Mem (the default).
Troubleshooting
If Mem doesn't activate in Claude Desktop, check the logs:
