Two Ways To Use ChatGPT With Mem
- Save ChatGPT into Mem with the Exchange browser extension.
- Let ChatGPT use Mem with Remote MCP over OAuth, so ChatGPT Web and desktop can search your memories, sources, and working context during a conversation.
Save ChatGPT Conversations
The Nowledge Mem Exchange browser extension runs in the Chrome side panel beside ChatGPT.
- Always Remember extracts decisions, discoveries, and key conclusions as you chat.
- Keep Messages backs up your full conversation history in real time.
- Per-platform settings remember how you want ChatGPT handled.
Setup
Install Nowledge Mem Exchange:
- Chrome / Edge: Get Extension
Open the side panel on any ChatGPT page. Enable your preferred capture modes. Done.
Let ChatGPT Search Mem
Use this when ChatGPT should read from your Mem, not just send content into it.
- Configure Access Anywhere with a public HTTPS endpoint.
- Open Mem → Integrations → Remote MCP over OAuth.
- Click Start setup. Mem opens a pairing page in your browser.
- Copy the endpoint ending in
/mcp. - Open ChatGPT → Settings → Connectors → Advanced.
- Create a new connector with the copied
/mcpendpoint and approve Mem in the same browser profile that opened the pairing page. - In ChatGPT Web or the ChatGPT desktop app, mention
@Nowledge Memwhen you want ChatGPT to search Mem.
This route is built for ChatGPT and other OAuth-only MCP clients. It avoids private API-key headers and keeps the long-lived connection behind Mem's OAuth bridge.
Bulk Import (Historical Data)
Already have years of ChatGPT conversations? Import them all at once:
- In ChatGPT: Settings → Data controls → Export data
- Extract the
chat.htmlfile from the download - Open Nowledge Mem → Threads → Import
- Select the
chat.htmlfile and import
